PITMASTER’S SMOKEHOUSE BBQ – I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about this new BBQ joint in Kapitolyo so imagine my excitement when we finally went there the other day for dinner. They have an extensive menu but of course the main star was the smoked meats that’s available in three types of sauce base – Apple (Sweet), East Capitol (Spicy) and Hazelnut (nutty).
Their PIT Platter is highly recommended when dining with a large group, you get four of their smoked specialties. We got the brisket, smoked bacon, ribs and chicken along with some sides to go with it. Both the kimchi rice with sous vide egg and truffle fries were quite good…. The Bowery BGC – Since this restaurant opened I’ve heard great things about the place, how they serve really good food and with laudable consistency with quality of food and service. Most of my friends have nothing but raves about the place and finally I was able to go there for a quick dinner and drinks with some friends last night.
And the stuff that we tried were all fantastic! From the appetizers tothe mains even the sides all very good – no wonder this place is always packed with casual drinkers and diners alike. A thing of beauty – their Lobster Shrimp Truffle Mac and Cheese of a harmonious blend of creme fraiche, cream cheese and mozzarella and that wonderful toasted cheese and crumb topping with these jewels of plump seafood pieces that brings much flavor to the dish – SO GOOD! If you love board games DyceNDyne in Kapitolyo, Pasig must be on your go-to list of restaurants, aside from the wide array of game titles that are available for diners, they actually serve good food there. A recent visit had us playing games until wee hours and filled with good grub that takes inspiration to some of the owners’ favourite board games.
A personal favourite from the stuff that we tried, their Bora Bora Bacon Tempura of savoury bacon pieces coated in tempura batter and then deep fried until crispy, then they topped it with some nori and served with maple syrup. This is really good, salty and sweet and crispy treat that will get you hooked, I can finish a serving or two of this. Continue reading DyceNDyne in Kapitolyo: Board Games and Good Food
We recently had a burger night for a dinner at Pablo’s Pub and Restaurant in The Forum, BGC. We tried some of their new offerings – a small selection of burgers where they cook it a bit smashed with a variety of toppings. I’ve been meaning to try the place for quite some time and heard good things about their food and drinks, a few days ago we tried some of their new burgers and some bar chow.
I must tell you their Chicharon Bulaklak is really good! Void of that oily mouth feel and after-taste, you’re left with this salty, really crispy treats that’s just perfect with a pint of beer. It was so good I wanted to eat it with rice. Continue reading Burger Night at Pablo’s Pub and Restaurant in The Forum, BGC
HALAL GUYS – The wait is over as this popular staple in the US opens its first store in Manila at SM Megamall (Mega Food Hall). Get your chicken and gyro cravings fixed – basically everything’s the same for their store here, the big, big servings, the tasty meat and that luscious, oh-so-good white sauce that I know you all know and love.
They’re calling the biggest serving, New York Size, basically a big platter of the good stuff. This is their Gyro over Rice – that flavorful meat with the awesome rice base and then you eat it with the fantastic piece of bread and devour the rest with the other ingredients. GOOD! Continue reading Halal Guys Opens First Store in SM Megamall (Mega Food Hall)
SNAG BOX – A new meek, little kiosk at the Spark Place Cubao that serves some of the best affordable, gourmet hotdog sandwiches that I’ve tried. Seriously their treats are ridiculously affordable and the quality of the food is good, such a great deal. We tried all of their sandwiches and these are the stuff that I liked.
This is their Rustic Onion Medley that’s a delicious mix of onions, cream cheese glaze and cheddar. This is so good, between the slight sweetness from the onions to that zing that you get from the bell peppers and then you hit the succulent piece of sausage and all that goodness is encased in a good piece of bread. SHRIMP BUCKET – A new restaurant discovery of mine, had a fantastic dinner here with some friends who love seafood, crustaceans in particular. The concept has been around for quite some time but I was only able to try it last week where we had a nice feast of all things seafood and good. Shrimp Bucket has three branches in Bonifacio Global City, UP Town Center, and Il Terrazzo in Tomas Morato.
Buckets of shrimp and mussels with a glorious sauce, the shrimps coated with a very flavorful salted duck egg sauce and the mussels made even more awesome with a bit of spice and a lot of savory chorizo. GOOD FOOD! Continue reading Seafood Feast at Shrimp Bucket
BURGER COMPANY – Celebrating international burger day in this awesome place along Mother Ignacia Avenue, Quezon City. The owner of the place, dubbed the burger boss, is celebrating his birthday today and in line with the celebrations he came up with a bunch of new specialty burgers. It’s been a while since I last visited the place and I really liked their new creations specially the bacon filled treats.
This is one of their new specialty burgers, called the Holy Guacamole of angus beef patty, guacamole, corn fritter, braised chipotle, sour cream, chicharones and cilantro. Continue reading International Burger Day at Burger Company : New Specialty Burgers and Bacon Overload

GRAMS DINER BGC – Now this is a place I frequent before because I love their tapa, and also it was a great hangout place with officemates after the shift we’d eat our fill and have long catch up sessions over their free fill of coffee. It’s been a while since I last tried their food and I went back to do a feature of the restaurant, some things changed a bit but at the core it’s still the no-frills good breakfast and comfort food place that we loved back then.
Their tapa is a must try! Crisped up bits of happiness with gorgeous meat to fat ratio, it’s just perfect with the sunny side up egg and lots of rice! Continue reading GRAMS DINER BGC – Breakfast and Comfort Food Treats
LAZY BASTARD – A new hole-in-the-wall open late restaurant and burger joint along Jupiter Street, Makati. It’s located at the basement level of the same building where famous restaurants Yamato Bakery and Mitsuyado Sei-Men are. I’ve been hearing good things about the place but there’s seem to be no reviews and features about it when I did a quick web search so this has always been on my bucketlist of must-try restaurants. So imagine my excitement when Richie suggested that we check the place out one late weekday lunch. Happiness is entering the restaurant and seeing their LONG LIVE BACON sign, by that time I kind of knew we’ll have an awesome meal here.
While their burgers and hotdogs are both good, the highlight of our meal here was their Breakfast Sandwich that you can stack as high as you can with as many filling / toppings that you want! Continue reading Lazy Bastard in Jupiter Street, Makati – Tater Bombs and Killer Burgers and Sandwiches
Outback Steakhouse recently launched a number of new lunch specials, some new and exciting palatable dishes along with familiar favorites. They also started a promotion for the 16th anniversary of their Glorietta branch where you can savor all of their burger treats at 50% off (available all weekdays of May).
This is the best-seller from the new lunch items and understandably so as it’s very good, so simple and well prepared Brick Chicken with a flavorful, slightly tangy sauce. Continue reading New Lunch Specials at Outback Steakhouse
CRAZY PETE’S DINER in Clark Freeport was one of our stops during a recent Pampanga Food Trip. The place had a complete diner feel, a large sign, from the tables, chairs, and the booths the decor and most of all the uncomplicated diner comfort food. They really nailed the whole experience and it’s a perfect place to dine with friends / family or a large group of people, expats frequent it too.
Happiness is seeing this thing of beauty, their California Style Chicken and Waffles in all its crispy glory with the butterflied skin and its juicy meat, one of the best fried chickens that I had in recent memory. MARMALADE KITCHEN – While the Forum South Global in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) has been a destination for new food finds and restaurant concepts. And while majority of the diners may be focused on the restaurants in the first level of the complex. You guys should check out the other restaurants as well, like this new restaurant and cafe by Chef Aileen Anastacio tucked in the second floor that serves some good, simple comfort food and amazing sweet tooth treats.
The main reason why I love Marmalade Kitchen is their Fallen Chocolate Cake, a cure to my never ending obsession and cravings for warm and cold type of desserts. This is really, really good! Continue reading Marmalade Kitchen at Forum South, Bonifacio Global City
