Savor different signature dishes and dining staples from different countries across Asia at Seven Corners. The buffet restaurant of Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria will serve some of our asian food favorites til the end of August.
Braving the metro traffic on a rainy night, we went to the restaurant to try some of their signature dishes. This bowl of hot Seafood Laksa just made everything okay. The soup base was lighter than what we usually have but the ability to customize your bowl from the toppings to the noodles is quite nice. Last Sunday I went with Y to Oakwood’s Nostalgia Dining Lounge for their weekend brunch. It’s been a while since I visited the place and we were in good company with some of our closest friends in the blogosphere was there too.
We were a bit late and a plate of their US Angus Ribeye was the first thing I got from the spread. They’ve always done steaks right at their place and it’s still as good as I remembered it to be. Flavorful and well cooked steak that’s good even without the sauce. This is always a must-try at Oakwood’s Nostalgia Dining Lounge. Continue reading Sunday Brunch at Oakwood’s Nostalgia Dining Lounge

MARCO POLO MANILA – Cucina the hotel’s all day dining ala carte and buffet restaurant dives into a Spanish food festival in time of the arrival of their new executive chef, Lluis Cantons Pesarrodona and he brings to Manila some of his favourite family recipes of simple but very good Catalan food.
The star of our lunch and the preview of this La Catalana food festival was undoubtedly the chef’s Paella Mixta. I love how he shares what he things is the secret to this festive dish. “Paella should have a little bit of everything but nothing in excess”. Not only is this paella a true eye-candy with my eyes glued to those carabinero / big head red prawns that they flew in from Spain, it actually very good as well. Curry Seafood Dim Sum by Chef Andy Liew – these gorgeous pockets of joy are really good! NIU BY VIKINGS – They recently celebrated their anniversary and in lieu with this they launched new signature dishes that will be available in the restaurant for a limited time only. Their efforts in pushing for fine quality food in the buffet scene here in Manila is laudable and here’s some of the new signature dishes that we tried.
We started the dinner with amuse bouche of Avocado and Shrimp Panna Cotta & Caprese Mousse. This is quite good, I love the balance of flavors from the refreshing and slightly sweet avocado base with the shrimp and then you hit these tartlets with fresh tomatoes and basil. PEPITA’S KITCHEN – You might heard of Dedet Dela Fuente‘s famed lechon degustation. I was lucky enough to experience it twice, two iterations, same indulgence of very good food. The two times that I had that private dining setup I was literally floored of how awesome the food was, both times that meal, that four-hour dinner was the highlight of my year, some of the best dishes that I ever had and with her famous stuffed lechon de leche as the star of the meal. Recently she partnered up with Diamond Hotel to bring the greatest hits of her three degustation / tasting menu to amass one epic spread for the Corniche’s (the hotel’s buffet restaurant) Filipino Food festival.
Her lechon creations have been making buzz both here and abroad where people would line up sometimes even for hours to savor the deliciousness of her stuffed lechon, truly I think she’s already successful in making lechon a true global sensaton. Now you don’t have to order the whole lechon or gather your friends to try her lechon degustation, the popular dishes from her kitchen will be showcased at Corniche. FLAVORS RESTAURANT – For a number of weekends The Sexy Chef will partner up with the buffet restaurant of Holiday Inn & Suites, Makati. With Chef Barni at the helm of things they partnered up to whip up some healthy, palatable dishes for the spread. I tried it last week and actually liked the stuff that I’ve tried. Remember my post about The Sexy Chef’s south beach diet program and healthy indulgence desserts? I’m a fan of their food specially the desserts as they make healthy stuff that you actually would love to eat.
A favorite from the stuff we tried from the buffet spread, Baked Salmon with Spinach topped with creamy sauce and cheese – goes well with my liking to the flaky, fatty goodness of salmon in this warm and comforting baked dish. Marriott Cafe Manila – It’s been a while since I dined here, in fact my previous feature about this buffet restaurant is one of my first post for the blog. This time we went here for a weekday dinner to try their seafood buffet, of course you have the usual stations from their buffet service but this time they added some nice seafood in whole fish and a variety of crustaceans that you can ask them cook whichever way you prefer.
Grilled Slipper Lobster and served with with a bit of garlic and butter, what’s not to like right? Continue reading Ocean’s Harvest Seafood Buffet at Marriott Cafe Manila
And we’re back at HEAT! One of EDSA Shangri-la Manila‘s signature buffet restaurant. I remember trying their buffet a couple of years back, long before I started the blog, and I’m a big fan of their dessert creations back then. And now I’m back to sample their recently launched food festival called Magical Malaysia, that will showcase dishes popular to ASEAN countries. This particular food festival will run for two weeks. Most of the inspiration for the dishes of the buffet spread are sourced from the recently launched ASEAN Culinary Delights Cookbook that’s also available at HEAT
Dishes of bold flavors and spices, from beef rendang to my personal favorite sinigang sa miso, and crab fat rice. Promising dishes for diners to savor, a buffet spread of diverse cuisines from the ASEAN region.

PRIME CAFE – B HOTEL ALABANG, its Friday when we checked in and it was the perfect time for us to try their Lunch Buffet. The spread was fairly simple, a few dishes but seemed well prepared. I got to enjoy some good old local dishes here, thoroughly enjoyed their take on some of my favorite dishes.
SISIG! A sure crowd pleaser everytime, their take on it was quite good, nice crackle from some of the toasted bits and you get to enjoy a hint of acidity to balance the strong flavor of the meat, and some heat from the chili, leaving you wanting for more.
