SHRIMP BUCKET – A new restaurant discovery of mine, had a fantastic dinner here with some friends who love seafood, crustaceans in particular. The concept has been around for quite some time but I was only able to try it last week where we had a nice feast of all things seafood and good. Shrimp Bucket has three branches in Bonifacio Global City, UP Town Center, and Il Terrazzo in Tomas Morato.
Buckets of shrimp and mussels with a glorious sauce, the shrimps coated with a very flavorful salted duck egg sauce and the mussels made even more awesome with a bit of spice and a lot of savory chorizo. GOOD FOOD!
Starting up with something simple and light, Shrimp and Kani Salad tossed in a mixture of sesame dressing and light vinaigrette. A nice combination of plump shrimp pieces with other flavor and texture components, a nice refreshing starter dish.
Something that’s currently off the menu, Shrimp Skewers with Five Spice Dip, this is a new chef creation that they launched during the recent father’s day celebration. Well cooked, succulent shrimp pieces in skewers in a nice light and crispy batter, then you hit it with some of the five spice that gives it so much flavor. This would go really well with rice.
Another new item that’s soon to be on the regular menu, Shrimp Sebastiana. Now this is really, really good! Something that’s really flavorful you’ll want to eat it with rice or a side of bread or potatoes. The shrimp pieces are coated with this heavenly mix of aligue (crab fat) and other flavorful components. This is a definite must-try!
And yes they have meat dishes as well, Dad’s Seared Chicken is another chef special that was launched during the recent father’s day celebrations. This is really good! Between the perfectly cooked chicken pieces that’s so tender and coated with a nice and flavorful mix of gata, chili and some toasted, caramelized onions for some texture and a bit of sweetness.
But really the restaurant is known for their bags by the pound filled with crustaceans served with a variety of sauces.
SHRIMP IN SALTY EGGSPERIENCE SAUCE – Happiness is perfectly cooked and plump shrimp pieces coated in a very flavorful sauce base made with salted duck egg. This has so much flavor and that sauce is just gold! I just wish there’s an option where they can serve the shrimps, peeled so the awesome sauce would adhere to them better.
MUSSELS IN THE MARDI GRAS SAUCE – Now this is a great surprise, while I’ll be forever partial to the one with salted egg sauce since I really like its flavor and texture. These mussels were so good! topped and coated with a nice and flavorful sauce with a nice bit of spice and filled with pieces of savory chorizo, SO GOOD! You’ll need a lot of rice to mop all the juices and seafood and meat bits.
For dessert, we opted for something light and refreshing, their Sollie’s Tapioca in Coconut Milk. Creamy coconut base with shaved ice and little chewy jewels of tapioca. This was a very nice sweet tooth treat after the heavy meal and the flavorful dishes that we tried.
Shrimp Bucket is a new restaurant discovery of mine, I was very impressed with the food that we tried and would definitely go back for more. Get the seafood bags by the pound and try their Salty Eggsperience (salted duck egg) and The Mardi Gras (Spanish Chorizo) sauce base.
