Sunday Brunch at Oakwood’s Nostalgia Dining Lounge

Last Sunday I went with Y to Oakwood’s Nostalgia Dining Lounge for their weekend brunch. It’s been a while since I visited the place and we were in good company with some of our closest friends in the blogosphere was there too.

We were a bit late and a plate of their US Angus Ribeye was the first thing I got from the spread. They’ve always done steaks right at their place and it’s still as good as I remembered it to be. Flavorful and well cooked steak that’s good even without the sauce. This is always a must-try at Oakwood’s Nostalgia Dining Lounge.

We all had our versions of a surf and turf plate with the steak and alternating the perfectly cooked and plump Buttered Shrimps and Grilled Salmon in cream sauce. The crustacean was slightly sweet and rich in flavor while the salmon was cooked beautifully and all fatty and flaky.

Pasta loves should rejoice because their pasta stations whips out some of the better ala minute pasta I’ve tried in buffets. This is a classic carbonara with egg and bacon topped with some peppers for  a bit of spice.

We also got a lot of the pork ribs. It had nice caramelization of fat on the crust giving flavor and a different texture to the bite in contrast of its very tender meat.

Encased on a sandwich or not, their Philly Cheesesteak was quite good too. I actually enjoyed this with a bit of rice and some of the country style sausages from the kiddie station of the buffet spread.

For sweet tooth treats they have a nice variety as well, from local favorite kakanins to brownies, puddings and cakes they got it all covered as well. Pair these with a cup of strong coffee and it’s all good.

Another notable good dish from the spread is their Seafood Paella. We were a bit late and I wasn’t able to take a decent photo of the dish but it was really good. A rich base from the sofrito and rice crowed with a variety of seafood. It also has some nice burnt bits at the bottom of the paellera. People who love soccarat won’t be disappointed.

We enjoyed the weekend brunch at Oakwood’s Nostalgia Dining Lounge. I hope they’d add alcoholic drinks for adults with the spread soon. The ambiance and good food with some mimosas would be perfect.
