Hefty Foodie's Quick Bites and Random Cravings: Sweet Bella's Pearl and A Shot of Pure Belgian Chocolate Bliss

One afternoon I was in desperate need of some comfort food, and then I passed by this new pastry place at Greenbelt, that turned out to be Sweet Bella. I’ve wanted to check out their branch at Burgos Circle and try some of their pastry creations for quite some time now. Fortunately they opened one in Greenbelt 5, it’s a lot closer to the office and I can drop by anytime for my sweet tooth cravings.

But how can I have dessert without coffee right? And though their coffee and tea selections looked promising, I tried their Hot Chocolate that’s made from pure Belgian Chocolate.

Hot Chocolate (P150)

House favorite, hot Belgian chocolate.

Oh I just loved this cup of pure chocolate bliss, had my first sip and it was like drinking a melted chocolate bar. I really liked its thick consistency and pronounced chocolate flavor. It’s the kind of stuff that you’d want to indulge, drink and lick the mug to the last drop. As I checked their pastry selections it brought me to utter confusion as they all look good and promising, and just before my chocoholic side take the better of me I got their Pearl, I wanted to try something different for a change.

Voted best dessert for 2011. Light and refreshing Pink Guava mousse filled with flambeed Guimaras Mango.

First off, I just love the presentation, Though I’m not really a fan of Guava this amazing creation had me raving for how it’s different, fruity and nice contrast of flavors and texture.

Like a beautiful side dish of an amazing entrée, the butterfly that’s made of chocolate was nothing special it’s just there for aesthetics and you should concentrate more on the cake itself. Took a bite and I was surprised on how good it was, the powder outer layer provided this grainy feel to the bite giving it a nice texture, the top part of the stuffing is of Guava flavor, fruity and refreshing, the other half of the base is vanilla flavored. Then you hit the flambeed Guimaras mangoes with its unparalleled sweetness giving a nice contrast of flavor, this is really good stuff and definite must-try.

I’ll do a full review of Sweet Bella, Greenbelt when they’re no longer on their soft opening phase for fairness sake. Really excited to try a lot of stuff from their menu specially their Wagyu line of products, and of course I’ll be back for MORE DESSERTS 😀
