The Bowery BGC – Since this restaurant opened I’ve heard great things about the place, how they serve really good food and with laudable consistency with quality of food and service. Most of my friends have nothing but raves about the place and finally I was able to go there for a quick dinner and drinks with some friends last night.
And the stuff that we tried were all fantastic! From the appetizers tothe mains even the sides all very good – no wonder this place is always packed with casual drinkers and diners alike. A thing of beauty – their Lobster Shrimp Truffle Mac and Cheese of a harmonious blend of creme fraiche, cream cheese and mozzarella and that wonderful toasted cheese and crumb topping with these jewels of plump seafood pieces that brings much flavor to the dish – SO GOOD! We recently had a burger night for a dinner at Pablo’s Pub and Restaurant in The Forum, BGC. We tried some of their new offerings – a small selection of burgers where they cook it a bit smashed with a variety of toppings. I’ve been meaning to try the place for quite some time and heard good things about their food and drinks, a few days ago we tried some of their new burgers and some bar chow.
Breaking my hiatus with this long overdue post about IHOP and all its simple all-day breakfast joys. There’s been this juggernaut of anticipation and excitement when people learned that a certain restaurant group is bringing this well-loved breakfast place to the Philippines, and as they opened a couple of months back they were thrown to the lions as the people decided that this is something good, previous experiences, memories of their previous dining experience at IHOP in the US, left this hype(for lack of a better term) over its first branch in the country. A lot of people lined up to get a table during the first couple of months of their operation, hundreds of excited foodies eager to sample their breakfast creations and other comfort food, and as expected there were a number of birth pains, this is the main reason why I delayed this post about IHOP, I wanted to do a feature about it when all that hype subside, as I really believe that food this simple, simple breakfast treats and other comfort food items are not really worth lining up for hours.
This post is a collection of my previous dining experiences with IHOP at Bonifacio Global City, stuff that I like; from their pancakes, stuffed french toasts, and other breakfast favorites to the more filling savory and sweet selections.
NACI Comfort Food – A fairly new place at BGC’s restaurant scene, the place debuted in Greenhills until they decided to move to this better location earlier this year. It’s my kind of bar; a place that takes pride on all things comfort food and all that warm-and-fuzzies. Also their specialties revolve around the love of RICE, which I think is our ultimate comfort food. In most cases rice is a staple on our dining table, it’s just one of those things we can’t live without.
It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of pasta, the more cheesy and creamy, the better. So imagine my excitement upon trying Nadine’s Adobo Canneloni, two of my favorite comfort food in one dish! Oh generous strands of pulled adobo meat oozing with flavor and then there’s that heavenly concoction of béchamel sauce and cheese all in that chewy pasta base — fantastic, ethereal.
Need a quick grub? Why not indulge in one of comfort food’s simplest form. The Cheese Steak Shop serves ClassicPhilly Cheese Steak sandwiches. One that’s done right, oh that simple and gratifying medley of thinly slices of meat and an overload cheese encased in an Amoroso roll — a simple bread with a distinct crisp crunch on the outside and a nice soft base.
CLASSIC PHILLY CHEESE STEAK Sandwich – An awesome medley of meaty and cheesy goodness!
I’m starting a new series of posts for the blog — FOODIE.PH Delivery Sundays. I have a love-hate relationship to the fact that I have to go to work on Sundays. Though I really like the hassle-free transportation since most often than not, on weekends the roads are devoid of that nasty rush hour traffic we usually experience during the weekdays. Now my dilemma whenever I have to go to work on a weekend is food, not anyone have a lot of free time to whip up a decent home cooked meal for a packed lunch / dinner and usually during Sundays most of the food purveyors are closed.
For this week I was craving for some good Mexican food so I got these lip-smacking burrito and chimichanga from Ristras.
A homey place that serves awesome comfort food tucked away at the second level of Fort Strip, Sunshine Kitchen’s flare comes from it’s charming interiors and some really good food with bright flavors. And when you see porchetta on the menu and all it’s slow cooked, sinful glory; you go right in and try that seemingly nice place.
This is their porchetta, slow cooked goodness makes for a crispy outer layer and succulent meat and fatty bits. Meat that’s full of flavor, an awesome treat that’s not meant to be shared! 🙂
Tried Shawarma Guys at Fort Strip the other day, where we had a nice quick dinner enjoying some playful takes on familiar Persian food. Good meat, the simplest of flavors; inventive and amusing. A nice and hip shawarma place around the area, ideal for some small bites or a filling meal with friends.
A personal favorite; The Blackbenny Platter – succulent pieces of chicken, lamb, beef, and beef tenderloin kebab on a bed of buttered basmati rice, a meat lover’s go-to meal.
URBN Bar and Kitchen — It’s so much more than a party place, as they serve really good contemporary comfort food. A gorgeous feast of premium dry-aged steaks, rack of lamb, ribs and so many sinful dishes that would excite everyone. A classy restaurant without the attitude, its laid back dining setting is what I really liked.
Stars of the feast, their Australian rack of lamb and the In-house dry aged ribeye that got countless raves for their sheer awesomeness.
One afternoon I was in desperate need of some comfort food, and then I passed by this new pastry place at Greenbelt, that turned out to be Sweet Bella. I’ve wanted to check out their branch at Burgos Circle and try some of their pastry creations for quite some time now. Fortunately they opened one in Greenbelt 5, it’s a lot closer to the office and I can drop by anytime for my sweet tooth cravings.
When we have food trips around the Bonifacio High Street area I can’t help but to notice this seemingly awesome dessert place. I’ve always had my eye at Cake Club. It’s been at my bucket list of go-to restaurants for quite some time now. Last weekend I finally had the chance to try the place and had brunch there.
Coffee is one of my weakness; I should at least have a cup or two daily. Recently we tried Kuppa (pronounced as cuppa) Roastery and Cafe at BGC. We had an awesome lunch there and splurged on their wide selection of food and beverages.
